Black pepper is a flowering vine in the family Piperaceae, cultivated for its fruit, known as a peppercorn, which is usually dried and used as a spice and seasoning. When fresh and fully mature, it is about 5 mm in diameter and dark black, and contains a single seed, like all drupes. Black Pepper has a sharp, hot and biting taste. It's a warming spice. It is one of the oldest and important spices in the world. So important, that in ancient times it was used to pay taxes. In 410 A.D, when the Huns lay siege of Rome, 3000 pounds of pepper was demanded as ransom.

Our world-famous Black Pepper are grown in Pakistan in both the summer and winter season. Areas producing pepper in abundance include Thar, Mithi and Sukkur in Sindh and black cumin also are produced in Punjab


Pepper is extensively used in the wintry cuisine of Pakistan, to impart warmth and pungency to veg. dishes and it is used as a flavoring spice in non-veg preparations. Pepper incidentally is an important spice in the Pakistani four-spice classic Pepper corns boiled in water along with basil leaves, are said to relieve chest congestion and asthmatic condition.
